Your condominium will be supplied with beach towels. It will not however be stocked with beach equipment. Too often items break or go missing and it is not feasible to track and replace the items. Sullivan Properties, Inc firmly believes in recycling & lowering the carbon footprint we leave on this planet! If items are purchased or acquired by guests and are still in good condition, we are happy to leave them in the unit for others to enjoy. If they are extremely dirty or broken, we must toss them out. There are places nearby that rent beach amenities – your property might also have an onsite rental shack. Most of the rental places nearby offer daily or weekly rates. Please note, we are not endorsing these companies simply providing the more popular options in the area : Snorkel Bobs in the Kahana Gateway Center, Boss Frogs in the Napili Plaza and Boss Frogs in Kahana Manor. Maui on the Fly for baby equipment rentals – this includes baby beach toys and other beach necessities for children. For more details and information check them out on the web!

Plenty of fine dining and family-friendly restaurants are within a mile of Kahana Sunset. For convenience, there is a Napili Market, a grocery store that is about ¼ mile away. Also located at the Napili Plaza are retail shops and a few eateries including Mama’s Ribs &Rotisserie, A’a Roots, Joey’s, and Maui Tacos. Kitchen 5315 and the Gazebo restaurant are located at the Napili Shores resort. Just on the opposite side of Napili Bay enjoy the Seahouse restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also has a great Happy Hour with both food and drink specials!

Kapalua’s beauty can be enjoyed through hikes, restaurants and gorgeous beaches. The hiking trails at Kapalua range from easy to extremely difficult! Enjoy the ease of the Kapalua Coastal Trail, the Village Trails or the very difficult Mahana Ridge Trail. Kapalua is home to some of Maui’s best restaurants. Higher end spots like Merrimans, Sansei, the Plantation House Restaurant, Cane and Canoe, and the Banyan Tree are wonderful.

  Kahana Sunset is a beautiful treasure and always our first pick for a family vacation together. Safe, quiet, immaculate grounds and breathtaking views make it so relaxing and enjoyable. The rooms are immaculately clean even though the furnishings and kitchen amenities are a bit worn.   The unit was not clean when we got there. In general the unit had a level of dirt (carpet in the stairs were gross, around all door handles it had fingerprints (doubt anyone has done a deep clean in years) and there was old hair etc left from prior guests by the headboard of the bed, there were dirty utensils in the utensil drawer and there was a dirty glass on the counter). I had to ask for an extra clean that you wanted to charge me for.
  It was lacking in basic things (could not find a pair of scissors etc).
  
  The one and only thing that I was happy with was the service to bring a new coffee machine when we accidentally broke the old one. Thank you.

  My fourth stay at Kahana Sunset,2nd stay in D-6.This unit did not disappoint as far as accommodations, cleanliness, and location. Since our last stay, air conditioning has been added and greatly appreciated. Minor inconveniences were the refrigerator and sun shade. The icemaker became clogged due melting ice which had to be removed to become functional again. As with our last visit the son shade kept retracting every hour and we had to get up repeatedly to extend it again. The beach was a lot of fun for snorkeling, saw turtles every day, and very calm during our stay. Overall, Kahana Sunset did not disappoint!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kahana Sunset. Our unit, D6, was clean, mostly updated, easy to access, and provided a spectacular view. Only a few suggestions: replace the mattresses in both bedrooms as they seemed old and saggy. Also the living room furniture was not very comfortable and could use updating. Plus putting a nice 5x8 rug in front of
  the sliding glass door would be a nice touch.

  Everything was as it appears in the pictures! Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. The beach was not huge but was sufficient for a cool down on a hot day. We enjoyed watching the turtles come around at sunset. Pool was a close walk from condo. property location is in a quieter area. we stocked up at Costco but there are groceries stores and a few restaurants close by. It was a full day if wanting to site see the road to Hana. Overall enjoyable property for families with younger children. Would definitely recommend this property to others.

  Wonderful experience. The unit was clean, modern and very comfortable. Every staff member we encountered were professional and courteous. The grounds are kept immaculate. We saw whales breaching everyday from our balcony. Sea turtles were a nice surprise while snorkeling and they even sun on the beach right there at Kahana Sunset beach.   The location of this condo is top notch, however the actual unit is in need of care & attention to detail. Carpet on stairs was filthy, and it didn’t appear anyone had vacuum or cleaned underneath the sofa in years. The ice machine on the refrigerator was neglected by previous guests and was jammed/not functional and required multiple calls to get it looked at. Lamps had burnt out bulbs with no replacement provided. Light over the stove not functional.
  This condo could be a five star unit, but seeing more than a few cockroaches during our weekly stay suggests extreme neglect. Basic kitchen items were absent: a basic spatula, not a single placemat provided for dinning out on the lanai, some dishwasher soap was provided but it was clumped together and dried out, only one thread bare kitchen dish towel was provided in the unit.
  I would happily return to Kahana Sunset but - sadly - not to this particular unit.

  I took my wife and 4 kids (ages 4 thru 14) to stay here for a week. It was our first time to Hawaii and with 4 kids we were looking for a place that would be low key, affordable, close to the ocean, has a pool, and sleeps 6 comfortably. This place fit the bill perfectly and measured up in every way when we got there. The small beach is steps away, the pool was great for the kids, the shower by the water kept the sand down there instead of in the condo and the community had a few ocean toys that could be shared while we were there. All the neighbors were pretty quite and everyone goes to bed at a reasonable time (great for our young kids). It was fantastic and just what we needed. Property manager had clear communication before we got there. With self checkin/out we never had a need to speak to them since everything in the condo was great. The only feedback I would give is before we left I called to see what amenities were open/closed due to Covid and the property manager confirmed everything was open including the pool, grill, gym, and on-site restaurant. I asked them to confirm this a second time since I had not seen a gym or restaurant on the list of property amenities and they did. When we arrived there was no gym or on-site restaurant. Perhaps they just need to update their documents or they were looking at the wrong property. Either way, not a big deal but in case you hear the same thing now you know.

  Spent 10 days here and the property met all my family's (5) needs. Unit was well-equipped with all amenities and conveniences. Description and pictures are accurate. Public areas were well-groomed (the property staff really keep everything in tip-top condition). Private beach was wonderful and beautiful. We always physically safe - including COVID safety - and everyone around was respectful of each other. We would be return renters. Never had a need to reach out to the property mgmt, but they were good with communicating throughout the booking to departure.
