Shops and restaurants can be enjoyed in any of the hotels or at Whaler’s Village. Relish the free hula performances at Hula Grill and Kaanapali Beach Hotel’s Tiki Bar. Enjoy fine retailers like Lululemon, Sephora and Tommy Bahama. Leilani’s on the Beach, Hula Grill and Monkeypod are great restaurants at Whaler’s Village along with many grab-and-go places too. Many of Maui’s best catamaran and parasailing tours also depart right from Kaanapali Beach. Literally, the boats pull up to the shoreline for loading and unloading. Snorkel sails, sunset cruises and parasailing are all at your fingertips.

To the north of the Whaler resort is the famous Black Rock at the Sheraton Maui. Further north is a great selection of restaurants in the Honokowai area; a few favorites are Pizza Paradiso, Java Jazz, The Fish Market Maui, and a longtime local favorite Okazuya Deli which you must try during your Maui vacation. Are you a coffee lover? Bad Ass Coffee store serves up a delicious cup of Joe and also has some great souvenirs for your loved ones back home. Just next door is a Farmer's Market where you can find local produce, freshly made smoothies and homemade goods. Kapalua’s beauty can be enjoyed through hikes, restaurants and gorgeous beaches The hiking trails at Kapalua range from easy to extremely difficult! Enjoy the ease of the Kapalua Coastal Trail, the Village Trails or the very difficult Mahana Ridge Trail. Kapalua is home to some of Maui’s best restaurants. Higher end spots like Merrimans, Sansei, the Plantation House Restaurant, Cane and Canoe, and the Banyan Tree are wonderful for any special occasion. Honolua Store, the Pour House and Taverna are a little less pricy for amazing tasty cuisine. Neighboring Napili town also has a selection of restaurants. Enjoy dining oceanfront at Gazebo or the Seahouse! Cultural flavors of a wide variety, a wonderful coffee store and more are available at the Napili Plaza along with a grocery store, Napili Market. Kapalua Bay Beach was labeled “best beach” by Dr. Beach in 2018. Enjoy snorkeling in these calm pristine waters. Oneloa, Honolua and Slaughterhouse are also amazing and just minutes away!

  We got this unit at the last minute as we decided to cheer our daughter on who was running the Maui marathon. There weren't many units in our price range left when we booked, so we took this one. This unit needs some TLC. The carpet was very worn, the parts with a wood floor were worn and had tiny white paint drips on it. The baseboards were shot. The bathroom fan was weak and swimsuits/towels didn't dry well. There was no screen on the sliding glass doors, letting bugs in if we opened the doors. The bed, however, was very, very confortable. Our daughter also stayed at the Whaler and booked early and her unit was much, much nicer...and cheaper. If you are stuck for a place because you booked late, this place will work because the bed is great. But you can find much nicer units. My wife called the unit "a little gross" which is probably too harsh. But it certainly had a low end feel to it. My daughter jokingly called our unit "the ghetto". Staying at the Whaler was great. It had been 20 years since we stayed there and forgot how great the location is. Overall: Whaler: yay, this particular unit:boo

  as a 1st time VRBO renter we did not really know what to expect, tried to keep our expectations low but very excited to spend 2 weeks on Kaanapali beach so there was concern about all of the what if's. It turned out to be just fine, check in was easy and quick, under ground parking was super convenient. A wash bay for the car? Come on! Overall property was well maintained and clean, pool area was great. Our room was slightly dated but clean and perfect for our two weeks. We would certainly stay again in the same room.

  Was a fantastic property and location could not be beat. Loved the unit for the 3 of us. We never left Kaanapali. Cooked nearly ever day & night. Ate on patio with a view. Kids could walk over to Whaler's Village at night. Played pickleball and used the gym daily - all wonderful facilities. Nice staff and complementary laundry. Would definitely stay here again.

  Everything was superb - great location for restaurants, shopping, whale watching, beach walking. The room was lovely - nice balcony view of the ocean, clean and well stocked. The only thing that disturbed us was the air conditioner that ran all the time on the property next door.

  We were very pleased with our rental. We are long time guest of the whaler and have experienced several rentals. Upon arrival our condo was immaculately clean. It had a beautiful view on both mountain and ocean sides. Bed was comfortable as was the pullout couch. All and all it was a great unit.

  The view was beautiful but it was not updated, the Wi-Fi was not updated, it was unclean when we arrived and we had trouble when we checked in even though we booked four months in advance. I would absolutely not stay in this rental again.

  We needed a condo for a few days while we transition from two condos in the same building for our long staying. I paid for early checking because we had to live food from fridge to fridge and the day we were moving our reservation didn’t even showed on The whaler’s system, so we had to start calling the condo manager several times, then they approved but not with the early checking and when they approved it the unit wasn’t ready. I had confirmed by Vrbo messages several times before. They refunded the early checking fee at least. Anyway, I should have read and pay attention to the previous reviews.
  The condo wasn’t clean, the bathroom smelled terrible, it was disgusting.
